In this photo, I'm getting 'stink eye' from a patrolling Israeli soldier near Beit Romano settlement in Hebron in January 2015. In later visits to the West Bank, Israeli military attitudes towards photo had hardened substantially, particularly after the killing of an unarmed Hadeel al-Hashlamon at a checkpoint on Shuhada street was photographed and broadcast around the world in October 2015. Some of the following quotes were directed at me by Israeli authorities during my visits.
"I will let you pass the checkpoint but you're going to have to delete that photo first".
"It is okay for you to be her but tell your man, not to take photographs of use".
"Don't take photos of us... or we will take your camera".
"No taking photos in the Palestinian Territories".
