Children walk home from school through a backstreet in the Palestinian refugee camp of Burj al Barajneh in south Beirut, Lebanon.

The tangled cable canopy over the street is a mix of electricity lines and water pipes. Limited permission has been given by Lebanese authorities for permanent and sustainable infrastructure in the camp due to the refugee status of the occupants. Wiring and electrician work is often performed on a DYI basis in the camp. I was told that an average of 3 people die from electrocution here every month. Often they are attempting to connect sections of their homes to the camp's grid system.
